Product Description

The Sugar Rush Stripey is a rare and visually striking chili pepper variety that’s prized for both its unique appearance and exceptional flavor. It’s a natural mutation of the Sugar Rush Peach pepper, which was originally bred by Chris Fowler in the U.K. The Stripey variety maintains the fruity, sweet, and citrusy flavor of the original but stands out due to its distinctive striped ripening pattern—as the pods mature, they develop vibrant vertical streaks of red, orange, yellow, and peach, making them look almost hand-painted.

The flavor profile is one of the highlights: it’s sweet and tropical with a crisp texture, balanced by a medium heat level that usually falls in the 30,000 to 50,000 Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) range. The peppers are elongated and taper to a point, typically around 3 to 5 inches long. They’re excellent for fresh eating (if you can handle the heat), as well as for use in salsas, sauces, fermenting, or even candying.

The plant itself is vigorous and highly productive, with tall, bushy growth that does well in both the ground and large containers. The Sugar Rush Stripey is a favorite among pepper enthusiasts not only because of its beauty but also because of its incredible flavor and culinary versatility.
